What Works in supporting technology integration for teachers?

Time for teachers to brainstorm/ask questions

Planning--don't sell the tech, but see what fits the curriculum, identify roles (TA vs. Teacher), debriefing

Hands-On--learn by doing

Using the "Right" tools--put the lesson ahead of the tool

PLCs--support for groups of teachers with similar goals--schedule created around PLC time for teachers/supported by admiistration

Customize the technology for the teacher's goals

Practical strategies/Exemplars

Time!--teachers are overwhelmed already

Set up tech-help days for "just in time" training--Apply it right away

Support with websites--tutorials, handouts (i,.e. wiki website)

Small groups during the day

Appointments

Learning Technology:  how does it work/how do I apply it?

Provide technology resources as per Curriculum Maps

Turnkey Training for Train the Trainers

Walk Through and make yourself visible

Administrative Buy-In in KEY!

What Doesn't Work?

No-Shows

Email blasts with alerts to cool websites

Buying hardware without training/input/plan

Lack of Communication/planning

Need involvement from the teachers

Learning Styles matter!--keep that in mind when teaching teachers (no one size fits all)

"Just in Case" PD

"Drop in" PD--make teachers sign up for a specific workshop

Getting teachers to stay for Professional Development "on their own time"
